Summer has been a great time for writing! Book 2 of the Sovereign Trilogy (working title Elysium) was submitted to Blue Handle Publishing for consideration a few weeks ago. The first draft of Book 3 (working title Inferno) is about one-third of the way written at over 25,000 words. AJ is writing more each day and hopes to complete the first draft by the end of the month.
Sovereign is moving right along in the publishing process. AJ has been collaborating with her Blue Handle team to begin development of official cover art. Once this stage is complete, the team will develop a concrete marketing strategy that may include book tour locations, book signings, festivals and events, media interviews, school visits, and even speaking engagements and author panels. We are hoping to have a concrete release date for Sovereign soon, likely in the spring of next year.
Authors LIVE
If you haven’t been seeing AJ on TikTok on Friday nights lately, that’s because her show, Authors LIVE, is currently on hiatus. AJ has been working on developing a more targeted social media strategy to reach YA readers with an interest in dystopia, thrillers, horror, and fantasy. While Authors LIVE was exceptionally effective at reaching other indie authors, it did not appear to be reaching many readers. As a result, AJ has decided to hit pause on this project while revamping her social media strategy.
AJ’s Live Book Club
AJ’s Book Club will be back in September!
Since AJ will be having surgery on August 1 — she’s okay! — she will be taking some time to rest and heal before hosting another Book Club session.
